More Great Scores from Wine Spectator & Wine Enthusiast!
Merryvale wines have been piling up the great scores over the last couple of months, with the most recent highlight from the Wine Spectator Insider.
On October 29th, Merryvale 2006 Syrah, Napa Valley, received 92 Points from James Laube, with this praise... "Bold, rich and full-bodied, with grapey, peppery wild berry flavors that are intense, deep and persistent, ending with a touch of nutmeg and chewy tannins. Drink now through 2013." Buy this wine!
And, just out in the December edition of Wine Enthusiast Magazine, is Steve Heimoff's glowing review of Merryvale 2004 Profile which was awarded 94 Points & Cellar Selection. Heimoff writes, "Merryvale's Profile remains a star year after year. The '04 is nearly all Cabernet Sauvignon, and stuns with its power. With a smooth, complex tannin structure, it's rich in currants, blackberries and cedar, but is too young to open now. Should hit its stride around 2010 and continue to develop for some years after. Tasted twice, with consistent results." Buy this wine!

Wine Writer Dan Berger Gives Merryvale Wines High Praise in recent issue of Vintage Experiences
Receiving Berger's highest rating of "Exceptional", these current release Merryvale wines were featured in the "Tasting Notes" section of the January 17th issue of Dan Berger's Vintage Experiences. Here are his tasting notes:
2005 Chardonnay, Carneros: "A handsome aroma of citrus and faint blossoms leads to a mid-palate loaded with charm and real Chardonnay flavors. Crisp mid-palate, and succulent enough to work with rich foods."
2005 Merlot, Napa Valley: "The aroma is bright with blue fruit, traces of tobacco and mint, and a lilting, seductive mid-palate with great acidity to pair with food. Fruit from Carneros and Oak Knoll. A startlingly superb red!"
2005 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley: "A black currant and blackberry aroma opens with air to show added depth from oak. Great balance; should age nicely for a few years. Supple enough to consume now with beef."
2004 Profile, Napa Valley: "Few Cabs are worth this much, but this newer approach is superb. Nicely knit aroma (cherry and subtle spices) with faint hints of dried herbs. Graceful structure and balance for aging, but also great now with aeration."
Mr. Berger tasted these wines during a recent visit to the winery. We invite you to do the same!
