Just 65 miles north of San Francisco, Merryvale Vineyards makes its home in the first winery built in the Napa Valley following the repeal of Prohibition. The heart of this historic property is the Cask Room – often cited as the Napa Valley’s most enchanting setting for special events. Two stories of century-old 2,000-gallon casks line the stone walls; aromas of winemaking and wine aging permeate the cellar creating an unforgettably romantic atmosphere for your celebration.
Your special occasion begins in Merryvale's tasting cellar with a reception featuring Merryvale's award-winning wines and perfectly paired hors d'oeuvres. Guests are invited to enjoy the atmosphere while waiting for the bride and groom. When the time is right, everyone gathers at the iron gates backed by red curtains as candles are lit, lights are lowered, and the music begins. The drapes are drawn to reveal a stunningly set table, complete with wrought-iron candelabras, flickering votive candles, beautiful linens and sparkling Riedel glassware.

With every detail carefully attended to by our experienced staff, and our highly acclaimed wines paired with the delectable cuisine of celebrated Napa Valley chefs, Merryvale brings an unparalleled level of creativity and enjoyment to your event.
Merryvale offers three levels of wine service for your event. The Classic Wine Service features current releases of our Starmont wines including Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Premium Wine Service includes our Signature and vineyard-designated wines such as Sauvignon Blanc from Juliana Vineyards, Carneros Chardonnay and Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Finally, the Prestige Wine Service showcases our Silhouette Chardonnay and our proprietary Bordeaux blend Profile. All service levels also include our Antigua Muscat de Frontignan with dessert.
During warm weather months, Merryvale offers guests the option of an outdoor reception on the veranda overlooking the winery property with its fountain centerpiece and the Mayacamas Mountain Range. With a warm breeze and the smell of jasmine, this alternative can be an inviting prelude to dinner in the Cask Room.
Located within the city limits of Saint Helena, Merryvale is close to amenities that can provide the finishing touches for all of your plans. World-renowned hotels, restaurants and spas make this a preferred destination that can be enjoyed by you and your guests. Merryvale’s close relationships with outstanding caterers, florists, photographers, and transportation services make planning your once-in-a-lifetime celebration a dream.
Fees: Facility fee and minimum wine purchase varies depending on number of guests. Contact us for more information. All wine purchases include a 15% event discount off the retail price per bottle. The client takes home any pre-purchased wine that was not opened and served. Additional discounts apply for pre-purchases above the minimums. Evening events begin at 7 p.m. in the tasting cellar, or during the summer months there is an option to begin at 6 p.m. with a pre-dinner reception on the veranda. Guests have exclusive use of the winery for four hours and may stay for up to two additional hours for $500 per hour plus service charge. Our tables, chairs, Riedel wine glasses, candelabras, votives, specialty linens and wine service staff are included in the facility fee. If the client chooses to use rental tables, chairs or cushions, there is a service charge for setup and breakdown, plus the cost of the rentals. Additional charges include a service fee and sales tax. Food catering costs are separate and billed directly by the caterer.
Consultation: Included in the facility fee for your reception is a consultation with our Event Manager. We will assist you with decisions regarding beverage selection, linen selection, event timeline as well as any other questions you may have. In addition, we recommend that you consider retaining a “day of” coordinator to assist with the day’s activities.
Parking: There is ample off-street parking and bus/limo accessibility.
Timing: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or 6 p.m. until midnight.
Beverages:Choose from a selection of award-winning Merryvale wines to be served at your reception. Non-alcoholic beverages will also be available. Beer service may be arranged through your caterer. Our staff is happy to serve sparkling wine for your toast, however, there is a $15 per bottle corkage fee plus flute rental for this service.
Vendors, Set-up and Breakdown: Merryvale encourages Clients to use vendors from our preferred purveyor list.
Audio Visual: Merryvale can provide access to rental equipment at an additional cost. Merryvale will not be responsible for any technical assistance or servicing of audio visual or technical equipment during the reception.
Personal Items: All personal items must be picked up immediately following the end of the reception. A friend or family member should be appointed to load the items in their personal vehicle.
Please note: Confetti, glitter and helium balloons are not allowed in the Cask Room. Smoking is allowed in outside designated areas.
