2013 Starmont Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley
95% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Semillon
13.5% by volume
This wine will continue to develop for two years from vintage.
We source our Sauvignon Blanc from different regions within Napa Valley, each contributing its own distinct varietal expression. Sauvignon Blanc is very characteristic of where it is grown, and as a result, each site can provide a different aspect of the varietal. The fruit for our Starmont Sauvignon Blanc was handpicked, carefully sorted, some was whole cluster pressed and the rest de-stemmed with skin contact. Fermentation was in a combination of stainless steel tanks (80%) and neutral French oak barrels (20%), and the wine did not undergo malolactic fermentation. Our intent is to preserve and enhance the varietal nuances and textural complexity. The wine was aged 4 months in neutral French oak barrels (52%) and stainless steel (48%), and will continue to develop for two years from vintage.
Pale straw yellow in color, the 2013 Starmont Sauvignon Blanc displays fresh aromas of grapefruit, melon and lime leaf. The bright entry leads to medium weight and nice acid through the palate with flavors of citrus, melon and fresh hay. The finish is lengthy and refreshing.
