2007 Pinot Noir, Carneros
People are talking about Merryvale wines! Here are a few of our most recent awards and accolades for this 2007 Pinot Noir, Carneros.
"Best of the Year Issue"
2007 Pinot Noir, Carneros
“Does a good job at capturing Pinot’s silky texture and the earthy, mushroomy notes that provide a grounding to the ripe red cherries and cola. Oak adds the perfect touch of smoky vanilla and spicy sandalwood. A lovely wine, and should develop nuance in the bottle through 2013.”
- Steve Heimoff
"Make Room in the Cellar!"
2007 Pinot Noir, Carneros
"Medium-deep ruby color; deep, complex, black cherry aromas with some herbal notes; deep, rich, complex black cherry flavors with earthy notes and some sweet oak; good structure and balance; long finish. Very deep and complex Pinot that needs time to open up in the glass and also some patience in the cellar."
- Gregory Walter
"Damn Near Perfect!"
2007 Pinot Noir, Carneros
"There’s a famous scene in the movie When Harry Met Sally, where Meg Ryan fakes an orgasm in a restaurant and an older woman says to the waiter 'I’ll have what she’s having.' This Pinot is all that in a glass. You’re gonna want some of this! Enticing aromas of black cherry, plum, spicebox and fresh forest floor lure the taster into a plush, sexy mouthful of yum! Consistent flavors of dark fruits and spice and linger through the finish."
- Sue Straight, aka "The Wine Wench"
"Wine of the Week"
2007 Pinot Noir, Carneros
Made by winemakers Sean Foster and Graham Wehmeier, this is a stellar offering with tasty arrays of cherries, red fruits and orange pekoe. Nice balance with freshness and depth, I cannot recommend it more highly and it is priced right — in the low $30s. You might also swing by the winery and try the other new offerings and get your own dose of local lore!

"Merryvale's Wines"
2007 Pinot Noir, Carneros
Cola and black cherry, with high-toned raspberry highlights; supple in texture and meaty in suggestion -- there's a lovely earthiness in there -- with just a trace of thyme spice in the finish. Sort of brings out the caveperson in you, wanting raw meat, barely seared by the fire.
- Richard Paul Hinkle
"Wine Picks"
2007 Pinot Noir, Carneros
Pinot noir is getting pretty pricey nowadays and $35 has become a reasonable cost for a decent one. We like this (Merryvale) pinot noir for its showy black cherry and strawberry flavors. Hints of tea and chocolate.
- Tom Marquardt and Patrick Darr
"Blue Reviews"
2007 Pinot Noir, Carneros
Deep and complex with ripe cherry fruit, fresh and a bright core of acidity; nice notes of earth, spice and oak.
- Anthony Dias Blue
